The use of Porto Palermo pier

The small pier located in the bay of Porto Palermo in southern Albania is a military area under the control of the state. Its use is therefore allowed only for military and state boats, while access to the area to all other boats is strictly forbidden.

The fishermen of Himara, who work in the area, complain about the impossibility of using this port in case of need. In fact, on several occasions, the fishermen surprised by bad weather conditions during their fishing trips and the impossibility to safely manage the boat have asked for the possibility to take shelter in Porto Palermo, being denied both this availability and the necessary help.
