Algeria

The fishermen’s port of Algiers throws itself into the sea with open arms. It is located at the feet of the Casbah, a historical district of the city, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

Its community, rich in traditions, is an integral part of the institutional process launched by Italy with a view to achieving shared prospects of stability and development for the Mediterranean. Its objective is to drive development for more vulnerable social groups, by consolidating innovative processes for small and medium enterprises and the integration of agro-food production, culture and tourist services.

One of the Algerian government’s priorities is to relaunch all the activities of the port of Algiers. Italy is the first trading partner of Algeria. Through Nemo project, the Italian Cooperation and CIHEAM Bari intend to support integrated development of the fishermen’s port through new infrastructures and services that might contribute to the growth and development of new socio-economic activities, by networking Algerian fishermen with other coastal communities of the Mediterranean.

WEBPORT is the digital port of the Mediterranean. It is designed and edited by CIHEAM Bari. It started in 2014 with the support of the Italian Agency for Cooperation to Development.

The pages of Albania and Montenegro were created and implemented as part of the CO.CO.TOUR project funded by the INTERREG IPA CBC Italy - Albania - Montenegro program.
