In Tricase, the first advanced course for the development of coastal communities
The first Advanced Course on Sustainable development of coastal communities began on 9 September 2019 and will run until mid-November.
This is a new high-level specialized training program launched by CIHEAM Bari in collaboration with FAO, within the context of the Blue Hope Initiative, and funded by the Italian Cooperation.
The advanced course on Coastal Community Development aims to strengthen stakeholders capacities and develop and implement integrated management policies, strategies and tools, focusing especially on stakeholders empowerment, offering a comprehensive view of the Blue Economy explored through a cross-sectoral approach.
Fishery, aquaculture and sustainable coastal development will be the major areas developed in the course, focusing in particular on management, technical and legal aspects and taking into account administrative issues.
The training is reserved for officials of the Ministries of Agriculture and Fisheries of Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Mauritania, Mozambique, Somalia and Tunisia.
The first week of the course was held at the headquarters of CIHEAM Bari, in Valenzano (BA) while from September 16 the lessons were transfered to the MARE Outpost, in the Port Museum of Tricase.
